State Government and WFP collaborate to boost food security in Meghalaya
The State Government, in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), organized a meeting in Shillong on November 18, to strengthen the Public Distribution System (PDS) and discuss future collaborative efforts to enhance food security in Meghalaya.
The event was attended by Comingone Ymbon, Minister in-charge of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, and Elisabeth Faure, Country Director of WFP.
The meeting focused on addressing current PDS challenges and key areas for improvement, while also exploring innovative technologies and strategies to improve transparency and accountability within the PDS supply chain in the context of Meghalaya.
Discussions included formulating a collaborative roadmap aligned with the State’s food security objectives.
Additionally, there was an initiative to share best practices from other States and global insights on successful models implemented by WFP.
