State task force meeting held for COVID-19 vaccine drive
State Task Force Meeting for COVID-19 Vaccine was held on November 19 under the chairmanship of Sampath Kumar IAS, Commissioner & Secretary Health & Family Welfare at National Health Mission Meghalaya. The meeting was attended by Mission Director NHM, Director Health Services Research, representatives from Social Welfare Department, Urban Affairs Department, UNDP, WHO, IAP, various Religious Organizations and officers and staff of the State Health Department and National Health Mission.
The objective of the meeting was to take advance and preparatory steps to introduce the COVID-19 Vaccine in the state.
With this meeting and all inputs and suggestions given by the various representatives, it is expected that the roll out of COVID-19 Vaccine will be smooth and successful. The whole exercise of vaccination will be taken up in a phase-wise manner.
The Union Government is yet to communicate the decision on the vaccine that is supposed to be administered. However, considering the magnitude of the exercise, advance planning and preparation is necessary. Hence, the task force had met to decide on the modalities of implementation.
As per the directions of the Central Government, the State has identified a total of around 25,000 healthcare workers (public and private) who would be covered in the first phase of vaccination.
