Supercare becomes first hospital in Meghalaya to get NABH recognition for its Emergency Department
Supercare Hospital, Shillong has become the first and only hospital in Meghalaya to get the prestigious National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) recognition for its Emergency Department.
According to an official communique, it said that the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) has assessed the Emergency Department of Supercare Hospital, Shillong, and found that it complies with NABH Standards for Emergency Department for Hospitals in India.
The NABH is a quality accreditation board for hospitals in India. It is part of the Quality Council of India (QCI), a national-level body that promotes and maintains quality across various sectors in the country. The NABH accreditation program sets standards for healthcare facilities in India, including emergency care services, to ensure that they meet certain quality and safety standards.

These standards are based on international best practices and are designed to improve patient safety and the quality of care in hospitals. The NABH standards are currently the highest benchmark standard for hospital quality in India. If a hospital has been accredited by the NABH, it is considered to be a highquality healthcare facility and even gets international recognition.
The Standards for Emergency Certification provide the framework for quality care and patient safety to patients admitted to the Emergency Department. These standards help an organization maintain continuous quality improvement. They aim at setting expectations for the provision of equitable, safe, and high-quality emergency care in the country, thereby ensuring top-notch clinical outcomes.
“After a rigorous inspection process to validate 44 quality standards involving 255 different objective elements, Supercare Hospital was granted this certification, making them the first and only hospital in Meghalaya to get NABH quality recognition for its Emergency Department,” the statement said.

Supercare received the NABH Certification for its Emergency Department on 15 December 2022. This certification is valid up to 14 December 2024.
This accreditation ensures standardization of protocols in the Emergency Department, where patients are treated by trained and credentialed medical staff. This certification also improves overall professional development of clinicians and paramedical staff associated with the Emergency Department. Supercare Hospital, Shillong, is the second hospital in the entire North-eastern region to achieve this feat.

We demonstrated our commitment when we became the first hospital in Meghalaya to get the full NABH accreditation in September 2022 and this NABH stamp of quality for our Emergency Department is another feather in our cap. This reiterates our commitment to quality, patient safety, efficiency and patient care and will continue to challenge ourselves to always give the best to the community.”
