SUPH ask govt to clarify on 11,000 MT of rice
Ka Sur u Paidbah ka Bri u Hynniewtrep (SUPH) or the voice of the people has demanded the state government to clarify on the distribution of 11,276 metric tons of food grains in the state.
Addressing media persons on Monday, chairman of the SUPH HS Shylla said that there is no transparency in the manner in which the distribution of rice is being done.
He also alleged that people in most of the villages have refused to buy this rice citing that the price is much cheaper from the shops.
“If government fails to clarify on the matter, we would be compelled to assume that there is misappropriation in the distribution of this rice allotted by the Centre for the poor people in the state,” Shylla said.
Asked, the former legislator said that the group is also preparing to seek more information through the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005.
