Sur Ki Nong Mawlai stages surprise ‘knife surrender’ protest infront of Secretariat

The Sur Ki Nong Mawlai on Friday staged a surprise ‘knife surrender’ protest infront of the Secretariat to mount pressure on the state government for the immediate suspension of the police involved in the firing incident that led to the alleged killing of the former Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) leader Cherishterfield Thangkhiew.

Several of knives were surrendered at the entrance gate of the Secretariat by leaders and residents of Mawlai. 

The protesters also display placards while shouting slogans “MDA government suspend immediately the three top cops ( Director General of Police, SP, East Jaintia Hills and DSP Traffic Shillong).”
