Suspected Bangladeshi Nationals murdered Indian man for betel nut
In an incident of cross border crime, one 50-year-old Indian man was brutally murdered by a group of people suspected Bangladeshi Nationals in Indian’s territory along East Jaintia Hills District on Saturday.
Sources informed that two residents of Umkiang Village and Lumsoski Village under Lumshnong Police Station namely Chiang Dhar and Rahul Pohtam were guarding their betel nut plantation in Lumsoski village, which was adjacent to the India-Bangladesh’s border. Lumsoski village is few kilometres away from Umkiang Village.
Sources said that a group of 15 Bangladeshi Nationals allegedly intruded to the betel nut plantation with the intention of stealing the betel nuts.
The Bangladeshi Nationals launched an attack on the two Indians National after they were stopped by them. Pohtam managed to escape from their clutches while Dhar met a brutal death as the Bangladeshi Nationals slit his neck and axed his hands and other parts of his body.
Villagers from Umkiang and police personnel from Umkiang Patrolling Post rushed to the spot after they were informed of the incident and retrieved the body.
