Swachhata Hi Seva launches in East Jaintia Hills
A nationwide launching of Swachhata Hi Seva 2021 was held in Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills District on Wednesday.
The programme was organised by the office of District Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat at the community hall of Khliehriat West.
The event was graced by Dr R Pyrtuh, Block Development Officer Saipung C&D Block in the presence of District Officers from different departments, traditional heads (Waheh Shnong), VWSC members and Swachhagrahis.
Dr. R Pyrtuh in his speech emphasised that Swatch Bharat Mission has awakened the entire nation into a lively country where massive and active efforts are witnessed across all sections of society to make India a clean country. The Mission has reflected the desire of a common man to bring about healthy changes in his surroundings so that he lives a decent life.
Pyrtuh said that Swachhata Hi Seva was initiated by the Prime Minister as a nationwide fortnight long campaign from 15th September 2021 to 2nd October. The inspiration we get from Mahatma Gandhi that ‘Our attitude towards cleanliness also reflects our attitude towards society.’ He believes that cleanliness is achieved only through community participation.
This year Swachhata Hi Seva has been planned with the nationwide celebration of 75th Independence Day under the caption “Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav”. The DDWS has initiated a series of activities to be carried throughout the State, stressed on mobilizing maximum peoples participation with active involvement of influential personalities for giving wide publicity to the message of the Independence Movement and Swachh Bharat Mission.
The office of District Swachh Bharat Mission (G) East Jaintia Hills in coordination with various stakeholders will be organising series of events starting from 15th, 20th and 25th September 2021 and the culmination of the campaign will be held on 2nd October 2021.
The activities include, District Launching of SHS 2021, Village level Shramdan such as cleaning drive, mobilization of Village Durbar on Passing a Resolution on banning of Single Used Plastic in compliance with the Amendment rules of Plastic Waste Management Rules 2021, Swachhata Rath Yatra to spread the message of Swachhata (Cleanliness) and Swachh Bharat Diwas the culmination of SHS 2021 which will be held on 2nd October 2021.
