SWS condemns Thangskai headman for issuing PRC to student from outside the state
The Synjuk Waheh Shnong (SWS) East Jaintia Hills District on Friday condemned the headman of Thangskai village for issuing a permanent residential certificate (PRC) to a person from outside the state for applying for medical seat under the State quota.
This came after the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) had sought the disqualification of 10 candidates from the open category in the allotment of MBBS seats under the State quota.
The KSU in its complaint lodged with the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and health minister Ampareen Lyngdoh recently had alleged that one Ayush Kumar had submitted a PRC from Thangskai village in East Jaintia Hills. Kumar had also submitted a birth certificate from Bihar without a court order and a CBSE document from Rajasthan.
“We strongly condemn the action of the headman of Thangskai which has affected the allotment of medical seats for our students and also affected the indigenous community as a whole. His action has brought shame to all the traditional heads in the district,” SWS president Hambertus Nongtdu said in a statement.
He said the Synjuk also demanded the Thangskai dorbar shnong to immediately cancel the PRC issued to such a person from outside the state.
“We also demanded the JHADC to also take necessary action on the matter,” Nongtdu added.
