Take suggestions or recommendations from local MLAs: Ampareen to Health Officers
Underlining on the need of proper delivery of health services in the entire areas of Meghalaya, Health Minister Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh on Monday urged the State Health officers to take suggestions and recommendations from local MLAs for issues concerning his/her respective constituency.
Lyngdoh told the health officials after she was briefed on the various ongoing developments in the department aimed at improving the health of citizens in Meghalaya.
The Minister assured the health officials of the government’s support and also urged them to focus on the well-being of the health workers.
During the meeting, the Health Department officials briefed the health minister on the progress made in the implementation of various health programs and initiatives.
The officials highlighted the key achievements of the department in the past years, including the inclusion of coverage for outpatient departments (OPD) under the Megha Health Insurance Scheme. They also apprised on the launch of the Meghalaya Health Systems Strengthening Project, Meghalaya Medical Drugs and services, Meghalaya Medical Services Recruitment Board, Rescue Mission, and Digitization and Technology in health.
The Health Department officials also highlighted on challenges faced by the department such as shortage of healthcare professionals, providing quality healthcare to hard-to-reach areas, and the rising burden of non-communicable diseases due to several risk factors such as smoking, substance abuse, and others
The department was represented by P. Sampath Kumar, Principal Secretary, R.M. Kurbah, Secretary, Ramkumar S, Secretary, Twinkle Marak, Deputy Secretary, Dr. H.C. Lyndem, Director, DHS(MI), Dr. Y. Phira, Director (Research), Dr. S.S.Nongbri, Director (MCH& FW) among others.
