Talks are going on with HNLC: Mishra
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra on Friday said talks with the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) are going on.
Speaking to reporters, Mishra said, “Now talks are going on (with the HNLC) and once it’s over we will let you know.”
He said that there was a time when some foreign entities encouraged militancy and there were many people from within the country who also never wanted the nation to develop.
He also said in the last eight years since Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah took over the leadership in the country, attempts were made to resolve such issues related to militancy and insurgencies through dialogues.
“In several places, we are able to control militancy. In fact in the entire nation there were places where the situation was not normal. Despite all these, now peace has been restored,” Mishra said.
When asked about the attack on security personnel at Tripura, the minister said, “Such organisations don’t want peace in the country. The way the development is taking place and people are instating faith in the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and his government, such organisation has developed desperation and despair as they will continue to do such actions to spoil the environment of development. The commitment of the government is to legally take steps against such violent organisations and proper action will be taken as per the law.”
