Tamang sentenced to 10 year rigorous imprisonment for sexual assault of a minor
After four long years of trial, a six year old girl finally got justice as the perpetrator who committed a heinous crime against her was convicted and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment with a hefty fine.
According to police, on 6th June of 2018, one six year old girl June 2018, a girl (6 years old) was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by Binod Tamang who is an acquaintance of the family who subsequently ran away.
Police said a case was immediately registered and the accused was arrested by Woman Police Inspector O Tyngkan, Officer in Charge Khliehriat Women. PS. The case was charge sheeted in due course of time and sent up to the Special Court for trial.
The Court of the Special Judge POCSO Court, Khliehriat on Tuesday delivered the judgment in which Tamang was found convicted U/S 363 IPC R/w Sec 5 (m) /6 of POCSO Act 2012. Further, the Court also awarded the sentence of rigorous imprisonment of ten years and a fine of Rs. 10,000/- on the accused along with a compensation of Rs. 3,00,000/- for the victim.
