Teachers’ appointment based on merit: Rakkam A Sangma
Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on Friday said the results declared for appointment of assistant teachers in government lower primary schools under Dadenggre subdivision, West Garo Hills District has been based on merits.
Speaking to reporters, Sangma said, “Result has already been declared and it is based on merit and because of that purpose, we have set up an interview panel. These candidates were declared cleared based on their performance at the interview. Because it is the supreme power of the interview panel to give the marks to select based on merit.”
“Therefore, this result has been declared based on the performance of the candidates by the interview panel and no more comment on this,” he added.
Asked, Sangma said that the question of tribal and non-tribal does not arise because the posts fall under the open category or unreserved category as per the job reservation policy of the state.

“It is an unreserved category. This result has been declared based on the marks secured at the interview by the panel. This is being decided by the interview panel and the question of all this should not arise because they sat for the interview and based on the marks obtained by the candidates, results have been declared,” he said.
On Thursday, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Meghalaya on Thursday demanded immediate stay of the results declared for appointment of assistant teachers in government lower primary schools under Dadenggre subdivision, West Garo Hills District to pave way for investigation into the alleged discrepancies.
