Teachers get COVID-19 vaccination or face penalty
Teachers have been directed to get COVID-19 vaccination and those who object will face penalty in West Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya.
The District School Education Officer, West Khasi Hills District as directed by the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills Nongstoin instructed all teachers both Private and Government institutions to get themselves vaccinated.
The letter was issued to all the Principals/ Headmasters/ Headmistress in view of the rapid increase in the spread of COVID-19 positive cases in the District.
The letter said “Since teachers have to mix around with students and other teachers, they are vulnerable for the spread of the COVID-19. Teachers are also required to assist the citizens who are the age of 18+ to register in the vaccination portal to enable them to get vaccination.”
“Teachers who fail to take the vaccination should undergo RTCPR test every 10 days and should submit report showing that they are negative (free from COVID-19), failing which they should not allowed to mix with the children in the schools and through contact tracing if they are found to be the carriers of COVID-19 they will be booked under the law,” it stated.
