Tezpur University to introduce 7 new programmes from this academic session
Assam’s central sector university- Tezpur University (TU) has launched seven new programmes for the students of the varsity, which will commence from this next academic session 2024-25.
“The newly introduced programmes encompass a diverse range of disciplines, catering to the evolving needs of students and the demands of the modern world. Each programme has been meticulously crafted to provide students with a comprehensive education, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in their respective fields”, TU Vice Chancellor Prof Shambhu Nath Singh said.
The new programmes are:
Bachelor of Design (B Des), Bachelor in Chinese, M Tech in Electrical Engineering, M Tech in Data Sciences, MA in Women Studies, Master of Education (M Ed) and PhD in Law.
In addition to this, the University has opened PhD for industry personnel and professionals. The Undergraduate programmes of TU are as per the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Admission to BDes will be based on a valid Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design, JEE (Main) or TUEE2024 test score.
For BA in Chinese, candidates are required to appear in the CUET-UG–2024 to be conducted by NTA, New Delhi. For M Tech in Electrical Engineering and M Tech in Data Sciences- GATE candidates with valid GATE scores in relevant disciplines will be admitted directly on a merit basis.
Non-GATE Candidates, need to appear for TUEE-2024 or CUET-PG for admission into the programmes. For admission into MA in Women Studies, candidates will be selected based on their performance in the TUEE-2024 to be conducted through Computer Test mode across India by the University.
For M Ed, it would be through TUEE and CUET-PG. For PhD in Law, candidates will be selected based on their performance in TUEE 2024 followed by a personal interview.
In the PhD for industry personnel and professionals, the university already has enrolled 5 candidates under the working personnel category. Out of which, two are fellow members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, one is a Fellow Cost & Management Accountant, one is a Fellow Member of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and one is a Machine Learning expert.
This year, the university is going to organise examinations in five foreign countries, ie Nepal (Katmandu), Bangladesh (Dhaka), Bhutan (Thimphu), Myanmar (Yangon), Thailand (Bangkok) and 39 centres across India.
