The Meghalaya Government has no hand over denial of permission to Rahul Gandhi’s meeting: Conrad
Chief Minister and NPP National President Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday asserted that the government has no hand over the denial of permission to the Indian National Congress for convening a meeting at University of Science & Technology of Meghalaya.
INC top brass leader Rahul Gandhi could not held a meeting in the University located along the border of Meghalaya-Assam as the District Administration did not grant the party permission.
Sangma was responding to a query posed by media persons in Wahiajer, West Jaintia Hills District.
The NPP National President said that permission for convening any meeting does not come from the government as the permissions are granted by the District Administration at the district level.
Sangma said the Congress party did not ask for permission from the University or the Dorbar Shnong for convening any meeting in the University, which are basic requirements while seeking permission for organising any programme.
He also said that any political party who wants to organise any kind of programme, they will have to apply for the necessary permissions.
On the allegations levelled by Rahul Gandhi against the Meghalaya Government as the most corrupt state government, the Chief Minister refused to make any comments as the statements are made at the political level.
