Three culprits convicted in Sada Muruh’s 1991 murder case
After 31 years and nine months, the bereaved family members of Sada Muruh finally got justice with the pronouncement of life imprisonment to three miscreants who brutally murdered the deceased in Lumkhudung Village under Ummulong Beat House, West Jaintia Hills District.
Police said on November 11, 1991 an FIR was lodged at Ummulong Beat House, Jowai by Kaia Muruh alleging that 5 (five) persons namely Tngen Muruh, Lowit Muruh, She Muruh, Tne Muruh and Kamai Muruh from Lumkhudung Village murdered his brother Sada Muruh on the same date at Lumkhudung Village.
Police registered a case at Jowai Police Station vide Jowai PS Case No.166 (9)1991 U/s 302/34 IPC. The case was taken up for investigation by SI Q.E. Pala.
After investigation, the I.O of the case filed a charge sheet against all the 5(five) named accused persons U/s 302/34 IPC. Unfortunately, I/O Q.E. Pala died on June 11, 2022.
Two accused namely Kamai Muruh Lowit Muruh reportedly died during the course of trial.
The trial further proceeded against the 3 (three) accused Tngen Muruh, She Muruh and Tne Muruh.
On Friday, last the Court of Sessions Judge, West Jaintia Hills, District Jowai in Sessions Case No.99 of 2015 on appreciation of evidences, found the accused Tngen Muruh, She Muruh and Tne Muruh of Lumkhudung Village guilty and convicted them for an offence of murder amounting to culpable homicide U/s 302 IPC and sentenced the three to life imprisonment.
