Three MCS officers elevated to the rank of IAS
The President of India has appointed three senior Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) officers to the Indian Administrative Service.
They are Batlang Samuel Sohliya, David D. Sangma and Wanrilin A.M. Booth and they are allocated to the Joint Assam-Meghalaya Cadre of IAS, under Rule 5(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954
Sohliya is presently the Chief Executive Officer of Shillong Municipal Board while Sangma is Director of Housing and Booth is the Director of Sports & Youth Affairs.
The three were appointed in the exercise of the powers conferred by Rule 8(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954 read with Regulation 9(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955 and Rule 3 of the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Rules, 1954.
The appointment is against the vacancies determined by Government of India under Regulation 5(1) of the said Regulations in consultation with the State Government for the Select List of 2020, on probation until further orders.
