After 16 years three murderers sentenced to life imprisonment

The District Session Court West Jaintia Hills, Jowai on Thursday sentenced three murderers to life imprisonment for the murder of one person committed 16 years ago.

Police said on 11.07.2006 an FIR received at Nartiang PIC that on 10.07.2006 one Late Salong Rakait was murdered by Mulo Rakait, loolang Rakait, Mut Rakait, Thum Rakail and Dilp Chyrmang at Nartiang Village.

A case was registered vide Jowai PS case No. 81(07)2006 under section 302/34 IPC.

The case was endorsed to SI C Lamare who after investigation Charge sheeted the case under the above sections of law.

After 16 long years of trial, the District Session Court, West Jaintia Hills, Jowai on Thursday found that Mulo Rakait, loolang Rakait and Thum Rakait guity and convicted them U/S Sec 302 IPC.

The court sentenced them to life imprisonment with fine of Rs.15,000 (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) only each.
