Three vehicles transporting timbers illegally seized in Garo Hills

The Meghalaya Forest & Environment Department seized three Vehicles in Garo Hills region for illegal transportation of Timber during the past 24 hours.

The vehicles comprised two Maruti 800 cars and one Bolero Pick Up were taken into custody by the Dainadubi, Darugre and Songsak Forest Staff at their respective jurisdictions.

The Meghalaya Forest Regulation (Amendment) Act 2021 has significantly increased the penalty for committing the Forest Offence. It also added the provision for confiscation of Forest Produce along with Vehicles and Tools involved in committing the Forest offence.
