Timing for opening of shops in East Jaintia Hills
The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District in a press release issued here informs the general public that in order to enable the local residents to purchase their basic and daily essential commodities during the ongoing prohibitory Order promulgated in East Jaintia Hills District, all Fair price shop under NFSA and Non NFSA will open in the different localities on daily basis from 9.00 A.M till 4. PM for disbursement of rice.
All Identified groceries and essential items shops selling vegetables, meat, fruits, grocery, mobile recharge shops, confectionery shops, cosmetics shops, air filler tyres shops, agriculture/ veterinary fertilizers and pesticides shops, and pharmacies in the different localities are allowed to be open from 10 A.M till 1.00 P.M on a daily basis from Monday to Friday in order to enable the local residents to purchase the essential commodities.
He also informed the general public that the open market wholesaler shops at Umpleng (Cement Market) will be allowed to open from the 20.04.20 to 23.04.20 (Monday to Thursday) from 2 P.M till 4 P.M in order to enable the rural villages from Saipung, Muallain areas to come and purchase the essential commodities.
Whereas, open markets wholesaler shops at Lad Rymbai, Khliehriat, Sookilo to open from the 20.04.20 to 24.04.20 (Monday to Friday) from 2 P.M till 4 P.M in order to help the rural villages from different parts of the district, especially those villages bordering Assam and Bangladesh.
Furthermore, collection centers of electricity bill will be on daily basis at Community Hall of the village Durbar from 9 A.M till 4 P.M in coordination with village authorities and the office of the MeECL, East Jaintia Hills District. Also, mobile repair shops and service centers are permitted to be open in localities of the district.
It has also been informed that all Banks in East Jaintia Hills District will be opened from 10 A.M till 4 P.M on daily basis in order to assist the public for banking purposes in coordination with the village authorities falling under their respective service area, cluster villages approach is suggested to be adopted for a particular day in consultation with village authorities to decongest customers coming to the bank.
In addition, all Registered Suppliers and Retailers of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department Government of Meghalaya will be open exclusively for sale of Livestock, Poultry and Pet Feed only.
The Deputy Commissioner has also instructed the village authorities to coordinate with the VDP, youth wing in order to regulate the operation of the shops in their respective localities, villages and banking purposes and also to ensure due compliance to the Advisories of Government in the Health & family Welfare concerning COVID-19 situation and strict reference to Social Distancing of at least 1 meter as directed by the Department of Health & Family Welfare.
