To say everything is under misgovernance is incorrect: CM to Opp
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said to say nothing is happening and everything is under mis-governance is incorrect.
He was reacting to the daily attacks of the opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) against the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government on issues of misgovernance.
Sangma told reporters that critics will say what they have to say but independent critics and Government of India and other agencies which are looking into these aspects have testified that there has been changes and improvement in the overall governance and improvements have been seen in the last four and a half years.
“While we are saying that we are not saying everything is perfect of course there are a lot of challenges and we have to work harder but to say nothing is happening and everything is under misgovernance would be incorrect,” he said.
Stating that it is the duty of the opposition to make allegations, Sangma however said, “But if you look at the overall work that has been done, the results that are showing I think it clearly reflect that a lot of change has taken place in the last four and a half years.”
Citing the launching of the school upgradation programme where dilapidated schools are being renovated as an example, the chief minister said, “You saw how schools were before and how they are now. In fact some of the pictures, which we could not show today, you will see they were even more dilapidated – so I think there will be people who will criticize always I don’t think we can’t stop that but I think in general and at large people have seen the kind of works that are going on in different departments.”
“I also mentioned that we are going to receive a presidential award for the performance in JJM on October 2, as one of the best performing states in the country. That is another testimony and example of how Meghalaya government has been doing its work. We have got the same testimony for tourism, for start-ups we have got awards, for e-Governance we received awards and also for the health department,” he added.
