Toll plaza held hostage by KSU as District Admin dare not strike with iron hands
It is a shame as the district administration lose its grips of governance as a govt installation has been hold hostage by a pressure groups for past ten hours and running.
This is the case in West Jaintia Hills District where a group of 50 to 60 activists of the KSU Jowai Circle on Monday afternoon shut down the functioning of the toll plaza at Pasyih Ialong along NH-6 and locked up the office of the Toll Plaza and letting hundreds of vehicles go free without paying the toll.
The District Administration with all its manpower at its disposal could not restore order in the Toll Plaza, which is a national property.
The magistrate and the police personnel returned home empty handed as they could not break the ice with the adamant KSU activists.

The Toll Plaza which was in the hit list of the banned HNLC for exploding few months back has been left unguarded by the Meghalaya Police.
The KSU actions could be summed up as holding an institution hostage for the non fulfillment of their demands varying from street light to repairs of roads and footpaths.
Strange but true the District Administration humbled itself before a pressure group whose demands are bonafide but their ways cannot be condone.
Ten hours have passed and still running that not even a rupee has been pay to the Govt for the maintainence of roads through the toll levy by the Toll Plaza.
Will the district administration dare to take the bull by its horns by Tuesday or the KSU will continue to have its way is itself a million dollar question.
