Topcem Cement hosts 8th free cataract surgery & eye check-up camp, extending vision care to rural communities
Topcem Cement, a leading cement brand in Northeast India, continues its commitment to social welfare by organizing its 8th Free Cataract Surgery and Eye Check-Up Camp in collaboration with Eye Doctors—an Eye Clinic and surgery Centre in Guwahati. This initiative underscores the company’s dedication to enhancing community healthcare and supporting marginalized sections of society.
The initiative will span 15 days from February 1 and cover rural eye screening camps across Darrang, Udalguri, Barpeta, and Kamrup districts. A team of expert ophthalmologists from Eye Doctors will screen approximately 250 patients for various eye conditions, including cataracts, refractive errors, and other vision impairments.
In a significant effort to combat preventable blindness, Topcem Cement will fully sponsor 50 cataract surgeries at the Eye Doctors Institute & Surgery Centre. The company will bear all expenses related to the procedures, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent patients from receiving essential eye care.
Speaking about the initiative, Anil Kapur, Senior President, Sales & Marketing, Meghalaya Cements Ltd., stated, “Topcem Cement is committed to supporting social causes that drive positive change. This initiative reflects our mission to uplift underprivileged communities, promote good health, and foster a culture of corporate social responsibility.”
Since launching the Free Cataract Surgery initiative in 2018, Topcem Cement has been a strong advocate of the Government of India’s National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment. To date, the company has successfully facilitated 200 cataract surgeries, restoring sight and transforming lives.
Through this initiative, Topcem Cement reaffirms its dedication to community well-being, striving to improve eye health, accessibility to quality healthcare, and overall productivity in the region.
