Total curfew extended in West Jaintia Hills, trade with Bangladesh suspended

West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate, Garod LSN Dykes has extended the Total Curfew in the entire district with immediate effect untill further orders.
The order was issued in view of the continuous sharp spike in COVID-19 cases with positivity rate of 33% for the period June 3 to June 9 in the district and hospital bed occupancy nearing saturation.
Garod in his order restricted Inter-State movement of persons is restricted. This shall not apply for transit vehicles of Assam / Tripura / Manipur / Mizoram. All Transit Vehicles shall not be permitted to park in any inhabited Villages along the NH -06 (Old Name NH-44) under the jurisdiction of West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya.
Inter-District or Intra-District movement of persons is not permitted. No person is to step out without valid reasons. Vehicles plying without Passes will be liable for strict penalties. Any one in defiance of orders is liable for arrest.
Political, Public, Social and religious gatherings are not permitted including conference meetings and training.
Entry of Tourist from outside the State shall not be permitted and all tourists spots shall remain closed.
Sports activities are not permitted.
All Educational, Coaching, Training Institutions etc. shall remain closed. However, during this period all Institutions shall maintain the classes through online teaching.
All Weekly markets shall remain closed.
Places of religious worship shall remain closed.
All Private Offices shall remain closed, except those providing essential services.
Weddings are not permitted.
International Border Trade through Tamabil Dawki is suspended.
Hotels & Restaurants/Eateries/tea shops shall work on take away basis. No sit in dining allowed.
In-situ construction works for Government and Private Projects that do not involve movement of labour are permitted with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/ Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
E-commerce activities, Courier Service and Home Delivery Services will be permitted with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Hardware stores will be permitted strictly on need basis and with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/ Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Automobile Workshop and Automobile Spare Parts shops will be permitted strictly on need basis with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/ Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil)
Opening of Essential (Retails) Shops strictly in the in the respective localities/village outside Containment zone/areas on Monday and Wednesday between 9.00 AM to 4,00 PM . (List as per Order No. POL75/2020/Ptl/13, Dt. 21.4.2020). CCMCs are empowered to give priority for opening of shops/ stalls in respect of shopkeepers/workers who have been administered with atleast the 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccination.
Opening of Essential (Wholesales) outside Containment zones/areas:
For Jowai Town , Mihmyntdu, lalong and Amlarem on Tuesday and Friday between 9,00 AM to.4.00 PM.
For Thadlaskein Block and Laskein Block on Wednesday between 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM,
Opening of Garments/Electrical /Shoe Shops outside Containment zones / areas on Monday and Wednesday between 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM.
Lay Bye Market lalong is permitted to open on Tuesday and Friday from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM.
‘The District Horticulture Officer and the Ialong Lay Bye Market Committee shall regulate the operation. The Committee is empowered to consider allotment of shops/stalls to shopkeepers who has been administered at least the 1″ dose of Covid-19 Vaccination. Vehicles for transportation of Wholesale Vegetables are not permitted to enter Jowai Town.
Opening of Steel Fabrication on need basis is permitted on Tuesday and Friday between 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Opening of Shops dealing with Agriculture Machineries Spare Parts, Seeds, Bio Fertilizers etc, is permitted on Monday and Thursdays between 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Banks having Govt. transaction shall open from Monday to Friday from 10.00 AM to 4.00 PM. Other Banks shall function on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with limited staff from 10.00 ‘AM to 4.00 PM.
Exemptions:
Health services including Vaccination Person(s) moving for vaccination should be able to produce proof of COWIN registration and slot booking.
Medicines and Pharmaceuticals.
Movement of Essential goods.
Movement for medical emergencies.
Persons travelling on Essential Government Duty viz;
Medical Teams and Officials on COVID-19 Duty.
Police, Security and Armed Forces.
Civil Defence and Home Guards.
Fire and Emergency Services.
Electricity.
Water Supply (PHE).
Roads and Buildings (PWD, NHAI, NHIDCL)
Municipal Services.
Public Distribution System
Information and Public Relations
Telecommunication Services.
Movement of persons and materials for construction of Oxygen Plant in MCH Jowaiwith valid identity card.
Print & Electronic Media.

Funeral/last rites restricted to 10 persons only with intimation to the Deputy Commissioner Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, Jowai / Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Sub-Division.
All agricultural activities in Green Villages with no Covid-19 active cases.
For Medical Emergency and Inter-District Transportation of Essential Goods, the citizens are advised to apply for the ‘EPASS’ from the District portal: westjaintiahills.gov.in
