Total Curfew extended in West Jaintia Hills till June 7
West Jaintia HIlls District Administration on Sunday extended the total curfew in entire district till 5 AM of June 7.
The order was issued in view of the continuous sharp spike in COVID-19 cases with 15% positivity rate for the period 27th – 28th May, 2021 in West Jaintia Hills District, and hospital bed occupancy nearing saturation,
District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, Garod L.S. N. Dykes, IAS, in his order restricted Inter-State movement of persons is restricted. The order will not apply for transit vehicles of Assam / Tripura / Manipur / Mizoram. All Transit Vehicles shall not be permitted to park in any inhabited Villages along the NH -06 (Old Name NH-44) under the jurisdiction of West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya.
Inter-District or Intra-District movement of persons is not permitted. No person is to step out without valid reasons. Vehicles plying without Passes will be liable for strict penalties. *Any one in defiance of orders is liable for arrest.
Political, Public, Social and religious gatherings are not permitted including conference meetings and training.
Entry of Tourist from outside the State shall not be permitted and all tourists spots shall remain closed.
Sports activities are not permitted. 6. International Border Trade through Tamabil suspended.
In-situ construction works for Government and Private Projects that do not involve movement of labour are permitted with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner /Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem. 8. E-commerce activities, courier service and home delivery services will be permitted with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Hardware stores will be permitted strictly on need basis and with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner / Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Weddings are not permitted.
Automobile Workshop and Automobile Spare Parts shops will be permitted strictly on need basis with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/ Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Further, those services exempted from the purview of the order are:
Health services including Vaccination Person(s) moving for vaccination should be able to produce proof of COWIN registration and slot booking.
Medicines and Pharmaceuticals.
Movement of Essential goods.
Movement for medical emergencies.
Persons travelling on Essential Government Duty viz;
a. Medical Teams and Officials on COVID-19 Duty.
b. Police, Security and Armed Forces.
c. Civil Defence and Home Guards.
d. Fire and Emergency Services.
e. Electricity.
f. Water Supply (PHE).
g. Municipal Services.
h. Public Distribution System
i. Information and Public Relations
j. Telecommunication Services.
k. Agricultural activities.
l. Movement of persons and materials for construction of Oxygen Plant in MCH Jowai with valid identity card. LS DISTRICT JOWA

Only Central Government offices as notified by Home (Political) Department and State Government offices as notified by Personnel & A.R (A) Department are permitted to open, at limited strength.
Banks having Government transactions and Post Office shall function with limited staff. Other Banks having no urgent and Government transactions shall remain closed.
Shops dealing with food products, dry ration, meat, vegetables and toiletries within the localities will be regulated via separate Order. Headmen are advice to encourage Home Delivery by the vendors/retailers from their own localities under the supervision of Incident Commander.
Funeral/last rites restricted to 10 persons only with intimation to the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai/ Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Sub-Division.
For Medical Emergency and Inter-District Transportation of Essential Goods, the citizens are advised to apply for the ‘EPASS’ from the District portal: westjaintiahills.gov.in
All permitted activities are subject to strict compliance to these guidelines and the social distancing protocols issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya.
