Transparent job recruitment need of the hour in KHADC: Kharsati
Independent candidate from Sohrynkham Kris Kharsati on Tuesday said it is the need of the hour for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to streamline the process of job recruitment.
Kharsati, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2019 elections from the United Democratic Party (UDP), filed his nomination paper at the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
Speaking to reporters, Kharsati said, “If I am elected as MDC, I will definitely push the need to immediately streamline the process of job recruitment in the KHADC because at present there is total lack of transparency. Therefore, we need to take steps to bring in transparency in the interest of the people of the region.”
He also emphasized the need to come up with more effective laws for the protection of the indigenous people and said, “We will examine and accordingly decide the kinds of legislation that we need to bring in apart from the already existing laws that we have.”
On his decision to contest as an independent, Kharsati said, “I am not saying that the party can make you win or lose an election but this time around when I had consultation with my supporters, they all expressed their desire that it is better for me to contest as an independent candidate. Therefore, I am confident that I will win with the support of the people that I am getting.”
Asked, Kharsati said that MDC election is totally different from the MLA election and majority of the people most of the time does not vote based on party affiliation because they look at the individual candidate, who they think can serve them better.
