Treda convicted to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for the rape of minor girl
One Treda Sungoh was convicted to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for the rape of a 15 years old girl in West Jaintia Hills District around two years back under the provision of POSCO Act.
Police informed that on the intervening night of 22.08.2021 and 23.08.2021 morning, the accused raped a minor girl aged 15 (ffteen) years old.
On the basis of an FIR submitted on 23.8.2021, a case was registered vide Jowai PS Case No. 91(8) 2021 US 3(a)/4 POCSO Act r/w section 506 IPC and was endorsed to WPSI I. Kharpran for investigation.
After investigation, the investigative officer of the case charge sheeted UIS 5(l)/6 POCSO Act r/w section 506 IPC.
On February 13, last the Court of Special Judge (POCsO) West Jaintia Hills Jowai convicted Treda Sungoh to 20(twenty) years of rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) only for an offence punishable U/s 6 POCSO Act, 2012 and 1(one) year simple imprisonment for an offence punishable U/S 506 IPC and that both sentences U/S 6 POCSO Act and U/S 506 IPC to run concurrently.
