Tura and Jowai smart town projects: Meghalaya CM allocates Rs 400+ crore
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said it is in the agenda of his government to bring all towns under the smart town programme.
Sangma in his reply said, “We don’t have an immediate plan (to increase the number of smart towns) but definitely it is in our genda to ensure all of our towns come under this programme.”
The chief minister said Tura town and Jowai town are the two smart towns in the state.
“Rs 338.152 crore has been sanctioned for Tura town and Rs 79.8 crore for Jowai town,” he added.

Sangma said there is no specific criteria for eligibility under the smart town programme. “As we move along we will expand (the programme) and if necessary, we will also create criteria,” he added.
