Tura begin with a win; SWKHDCA outplay WKHDCA in MCA U-16 Tournament

Tura District Cricket Association (TDCA) made a winning start in Zone 2 of the MCA Under-16 Boys Inter District Tournament 2025, while SWKHDCA registered a strong win over WKHDCA in Zone 1.
At Mendipathar, TDCA defeated hosts North Garo Hills DCA by five wickets in a low-scoring encounter. Tura won the toss and elected to field on a bowler-friendly surface. They bowled out NGHDCA for just 39 in 18.1 overs, with Chingjring K Marak (12) being the only batter to reach double figures. Aniket Poddar starred with 4/5 in 7 overs, while Doangkam Ch Marak (3/9) and Ishan Saha (3/16) chipped in with crucial wickets.
The chase wasn’t smooth for TDCA either, with no batter crossing 7 runs. However, 17 wides from NGHDCA helped Tura cross the line at 40/5 in 16.4 overs. Chingjring returned with impressive figures of 3/6 in 2.4 overs, but Aniket Poddar’s all-round contribution earned him the Player of the Match award.
In Zone 1, a rain-affected match at Madan Thad Mukhla Mission, West Jaintia Hills, saw SWKHDCA overpower WKHDCA by 56 runs.
Batting first, SWKHDCA posted 138 in 37.5 overs, with a gritty 53 from Phrangborlang Syiemlieh and 17 from skipper Phibanaibor Iawphniaw. Elvinson Nongsiej took 4 wickets for WKHDCA.
Chasing a DLS-revised target of 133, WKHDCA struggled and were bowled out for 76 in 29.5 overs. Leadest Son Thongni top-scored with 42, but it was Steviericson Iawphniaw’s 6/24 that secured a comfortable win for SWKHDCA.
