Two more die of COVID-19, 229 new cases detected in Meghalaya
Two more persons have died due to COVID-19, taking the death toll in the state to 171 on Friday.
A total of 229 people tested positive during the day, taking the total number of cases to 1,592, while 166 have recovered from the disease, pushing up the number of recoveries to 15,083 , Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said.
Dr War said the new cases include 124 in East Khasi Hills district, 27 West Jaintia Hills district, 17 East Jaintia Hills district, 14 East Garo Hills district, 14 Ri Bhoi district, 9 West Khasi Hills district, 9 North Garo Hills district, 5 West Garo Hills district, 5 South West Khasi Hills district 4 South Garo Hills district, and 1 South West Garo Hills district.
He informed that of 166 patients who have recovered from the viral infection, 145 are from East Khasi Hills, 8 West Jaintia Hills, 5 East Jaintia Hills, 5 Ri Bhoi, 2 West Garo Hills and 1 West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 16,846 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,592 are active cases, 15,083 recovered and 171 deaths.
With 1,072 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 164 cases, 101 in West Jaintia Hills, 80 East Jaintia Hills, 70 West Garo Hills, 40 West Khasi Hills, 17 South West Khasi Hills, 20 East Garo Hills, 12 South Garo Hills, 5 South West Garo Hills and 11 in North Garo Hills.
On the other hand, of the 4,61,570 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 4,44,724 were tested negative for the virus even as 346 persons are in institutional quarantine and 1,246 under home quarantine.
There are 1,13,898 entrants from outside the state.
24,777 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 18,283 had received the second dose, while 42,879 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 25,954 got the second dose as on Friday.
Moreover, 1,51,902 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 16,802 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the State.
