Two scooty riders killed in Ri Bhoi District in a failed attempt to overtake other vehicles

Two persons from West Jaintia Hills District travelling on a scooty were killed in Ri Bhoi District on Sunday after they dashed a vehicle while overtaking other vehicles and they both fell into the rear tyre of a moving truck and consequently both their head was trampled.
Police said that the fatal accident occurred near Tyndai Resort in Umroi Madan along Shillong by-pass road of NH-44 in Ri Bhoi District. Police informed that scooty B/R No ML05 AB 5721 ridden by Khrawbor Pakma of Mynso village, West Jaintia Hills District along with with a pillion rider identified as David Sajem – 25 yrs of Iooksi from the same district were proceeding towards Umiam side.
Police said however on reaching the area where the accident occurred during the process of overtaking other vehicles dashed one Hyundai Eon bearing registration number ML05 K 2600 plying in the same direction.
Police said the Hyundai Eon vehicle was driven by B. Marbiangbor Thangkiew of Nongkseh, Upper Shillong and heading towards Guwahati along with his family to Guwahti.
Police said the scooty rider lost control and dashed the front bumper of the said car and lost control and balance over his scooty.
Police said that consequently both the rider and pillion rider of the scooty fell on the right rear tyre of a truck bearing registration number ML 11 8622 driven by Iohbor Lapasam of Shangpung, West Jaintia Hills District, which was ahead of the said scooty.
Police said both the rider and the pillion rider were killed on the spot as their heads were completely crushed by the rear tyre of the truck.
Police said the cadavers were shifted to Civil Hospital, Nongpoh for completion of legal formalities.
