Two women arrested, 1.116 kg of heroin seized

East Khasi Police arrested two women along with huge cache of heroin weighing 1.116 kg from Madanriting.

Police said that on 05/11/2021, source information was received that an illegal consignment of narcotic drugs was being delivered to a person staying at Madanrting. Further on 06/11/2021 after the information was verified, immediately the ANTF Team along with officers and personnel of Madanrting PS proceeded to the residence of the suspect.

A house search was conducted at the residence of the suspect in the presence of independent witnesses.

During the search, 101 soap boxes (66 soap boxes kept inside a purple color bag and 35 soap boxes kept inside a carton box) were recovered. All the soap boxes contained Heroin which was confirmed by a preliminary test, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said.

He said the heroin seized weighing 1.116 kg was trafficked from Myanmar.

Two women have been arrested in the case registered i.e. Madanrting P.S Case No. 150 (11) 2021 U/S 21 (c) /29 NDPS Act and investigation is on to nab others involved in the racket, he added.
