Two youths including one female from Assam killed in road mishap in Ri Bhoi
In a tragic incident, two youths including one female from Assam were killed in a road mishap in National Highway no. 06 along Shangbangla, Ri Bhoi District on Sunday morning.
Police said that one Royal Enfield Himalaya Bike bearing registration number AS01FF/3367 rode by Nilutpal Dowari (23yrs) of Sarupather No 2, PS-Moran, PO-Moranhat, Dibrugarh, Assam along with pillion rider namely Gargee Chutia (21 yrs) of Gadadhar Singha Path Joytipur Moranhat, Charaideo, Assam were proceeding from Guwahati towards Shillong side.
Police said on reaching Shangbangla the deceased tried to overtake one truck bearing registration number AS01 RC 0413 drove Helmi Suting (34 yrs) of Moorathud, West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya, which was in front of them and proceeding in the same direction.
Police said that however due to over speeding by the deceased and lost control of his bike at a sharp curve and dashed against the rear tyre of the said truck and fell down on the road beneath the truck and thereby the truck ran over their body and both of them were killed on the spot.
Police informed the dead bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Morgue Room Nongpoh for conducting inquest and PM examination.
Police said that the involved truck driver was medically examined at civil hospital Nongpoh and the said bike and truck was later brought to Nongpoh PS and kept on the service lane.
Police said the relatives of both the deceased persons were intimated about the incident and they are directed to report at the branch for taking further necessary action.
