Tynsong asks people of Mawphlang-Diengiei to re-elect Blah, says govt cannot violate financial rules
NPP state president and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday urged the people of Mawphlang-Diengiei to re-elect sitting MDC and chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Lamphrang Blah as a mark of respecting the party for having fulfilled all promises made for the constituency.
Addressing an election campaign at Mawngap, Tynsong said, “We have delivered all our promises made in the previous elections in terms of roads, sub-division, college and hospital. I know that there are still many issues to attend but I want to request you as a mark of respect to the NPP and me as state president to give your full support to Lamphrang Blah, who you have re-elected for four consecutive terms. He is a seasoned leader.”
“Blah did not won the MLA election. I did some research and I understood it was because he is an MDC. It seems we need separate MDC and MLA.
Therefore, we should give him another chance as he is a specialist now and he has held different posts in the KHADC,” he added.
On the allegation of high-level against NPP, Tynsong said, “They (opponents) are making such allegation as if they have evidence. I have not seen them go and file FIR against Prestone or Conrad or minister but they instead only file FIR against those talking against them in social media. That is just a waste of time because they cannot get their votes. They are full of big talks but I say if you dare to threaten to file case against a dorbar shnong then what about us?”
Stating that the government cannot violate the financial rules, the deputy CM said, “The government of India (GOI) has independent department – CAG, who will not spare anyone or violators or anyone indulges in corruption. Therefore, find out the truth instead of believing the lies of the opponents.”
Taking a jibe at the opposition VPP, Tynsong said, “A UDP leader had rightly pointed out when he said they are only four of them but the infightings within the party is so much. Just imagine if they have 32 MLAs, I think that will mark the beginning of the third world war.”
Urging the people not to be misled by the opposition, Tynsong said, “We are committed to bring development in each and every constitutency. The NPP-led EC in KHADC has created history when seven bills got the assent of the governor. This was possible because the ADC and state are working together.”
Highlighting the achievements of the NPP-led MDA government, former Mawsynram legislator Himalaya Shangpliang said, “Over 2000 were recruited in the police department. This year, we will further recruit more people in the department.”
Asking people to trust the NPP, he said, “The party has no time to blame anybody because it is busy bringing development to the state.”
Shangpliang said Meghalaya will be getting 1 lakh houses for the poor this year
“Soon we will also inaugurate the science college and recruitment of faculty members will also start. It is a government college and fees will be reasonable.
This is possible because of Lamphrang Blah, as he acts as a bridge between you and the government.
He has approached the government and these developments are given. Therefore, you will regret if you fail to re-elect him as your MDC,” he added.
