Tynsong slams AITC for baseless allegation, says state received only Rs 251 Cr for implementation of Smart City projects
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday referred to the allegation made by the opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) with regards to the Smart City project as totally baseless and political.
This came a day after the AITC had claimed to have detected anomalies in the implementation of the Shillong Smart City project.
Tynsong told reporters that the statement of the AITC that the Shillong Smart City Limited (SSCL) has been granted over Rs 1,005 crore for various projects by both central and state governments is factually incorrect.
“They alleged that the fund of Rs 1005 crore has been released which is totally wrong as till today the amount that we received under the SSCL is only Rs 251 crore of which Rs 55 is state share and only Rs 196 crore was from the central government,” he said.
Tynsong further said regarding filing of financial statements of SSCL with registrar of companies (ROC) as per the article of associations, it is clarified that as per the procedure, financial statements have to be filed with the ROC, cooperative society upon completion of audit by CAG and its adoption in the general body meeting.
“Let me tell you the book of account has just been audited and has just been confirmed by the CAG. CAG has already confirmed and next step is we have to file it and filing will be done by next month because again the rules say before filing of financial statement, the board has to pass it means the report of the CAG and also the report of the statutory auditor. So very soon the annual general meeting of the SSCL will sit down in its office and thereafter they will file this statement as prescribed by the guidelines,” he said.
“Let me inform you the financial year 2020 and 2021 has been duly audited by the statutory auditor and also duly approved by the CAG. Therefore, the allegation made by TMC is totally malicious, it is totally baseless and it is totally political,” the deputy chief minister stated.
