U-15 Inter District Cricket: SCA-A dominates B team; EGH finish first day 9 runs behind NGH
Shillong Cricket Association-A dominated the SCA-B team on the first day of their U-15 Inter District Cricket Tournament 2023 match in Zone 1 in Umbuda, Ri-Bhoi on Wednesday.
In the Zone 2 game, East Garo Hills District Cricket Association ended the first day just nine runs behind North Garo Hills DCA’s first innings total and still had three wickets in hand in Williamnagar.
SCA-A won the toss and opted to bat first, making 260 all out to which SCA-B responded with 52/6 at stumps, trailing by 208. Aashish K Lohar top-scored for SCA-A with 75 in the middle order and there were other notable contributions, such as Mewankitbok M Kharpuri’s 52, Samelawan S Nongkseh’s 42 and Advay Ratan Surana’s 34. Navneet Sah returned the best figures for the B Team, with 4/26.
Later, Surana grabbed 2/17 with the ball and Lohar 2/18 as SCA-B’s batters were put under pressure. Three batters managed to get into double figures but the most any one could manage was 14 by Aryan K Rai.
In the other match, EGH won the toss and chose to field first and restricted their opponents to 134 all out. At stumps, EGH were 125/7.
NGH’s resistance with the bat was led by Rituraj Rabha, who struck 45 from 38 balls but it was tough going against the bowling of Paisal Ali (5/34) and Namgrik Sangma (4/36).
EGH also found it difficult with the bat, with a top score of 32 by Daniel Dilsrang Marak. Jakrasil Chuseng Marak was devastating for NGH with the ball, scalping 6/33 in a match that appears finely poised.
U-14 Girls Inter District Cricket:
The U-14 Girls Inter District Cricket T20 Tournament 2023 was shaping up to be an interesting contest but bad weather stepped in to spoil the fun.
South Garo Hills District Cricket Association won the toss and chose to bat first against West Khasi Hills DCA in a match that was reduced to 12 overs a side.
WKH captured two early wickets but Tempali Basumatary batted excellently for an unbeaten 39 from 33 balls and put on 54 in an unbroken fourth wicket stand with Magdaline M Sangma (13 not out).
SGH had reached 101/3 in 11 overs before the match had to be abandoned.
The wickets were claimed by WKH’s Evanrihun Sohshang (1/12), Idatyngkai Marngar (1/19) and Adalyn Fedelia Lyngkhoi (1/30).
