UDA set to stake claim of KHADC on Monday
SHILLONG: The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is all set to stake-claim to form the executive committee in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
A delegation of the UDA has decided to meet the Governor Tathagata Roy on Monday to apprise him that the alliance is in the majority in the Council.
The strength of the UDA has increase to 15 in the House of 29 following the decision of the Congress MDC from Mairang-Nongkhlaw, Batskhem Ryntathiang to support the alliance.
The United Democratic Forum (UDF) however has been reduce to 14.
After a meeting held here on Saturday, UDA leader and former deputy chief executive member, Pyniaid Sing Syiem said, “We will be meeting the Governor to apprise him that the UDA is in the majority in the Council.”
He said the delegation will be submitting a letter to inform that the strength of the alliance has gone up to 15 with the joining of Ryntathiang.
Syiem also expressed confidence that the UDA will be able to form the new EC in the KHADC with the fresh political development.
He further claimed that there are two more the MDCs from the United Democratic Forum (UDF) who have send feelers to join the UDA. “They are expected to formally join the UDA,” Syiem added.
