Stating that the process of selecting candidates is based on transparency, he said, “The power does not rest with the state election committee or the district or circle but the power is with the people, who will approve and extend their full support to our candidates.”
According to him, that is why the process of selecting candidates started right from the village level before it comes to the constituency, district and state level.
Lyngdoh further claimed that there is no fighting over party ticket within the UDP.
“There may be two-three people, who are vying for the party ticket but in the end, we have to select only one candidate from each constituency. But in the UDP there is no such thing as fighting over party ticket. However nonetheless, I urged our party workers, whose names have not been approved for selection as candidates, to continue to work together to ensure victory of the candidates,” he said.
Further, UDP chief said that the ADC elections is totally different from the MLA and MP elections.
“We are confident that all candidates declared by the party have a good chance to win the upcoming elections. Selection have been done after due diligence and based on winnability. So I urged all candidates to workhard to ensure the party’s victory. This is a very different election, it is different from MLA and MP elections. Therefore, party workers should work very hard to ensure victory to the party,” he added.
