UDP congratulate new JHADC chairman
The United Democratic Party (UDP) has congratulated its MDC from Bataw-Lakadong Dr Sankey Shangpung for being elected as the new chairman of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) on Monday.
“We congratulate him (Dr Shangpung) on his election to the post of a chairman and hope that he will be able to steer the JHADC ship in the right direction,” UDP general secretary and former Nongthymmai legislator Jemino Mawthoh said.
Dr Shangpung was elected unopposed to the top post during a special session held at Jowai in West Jaintia Hills.
The election was necessitated after the resignation of the former JHADC chairman Finelyness Bareh in January this year.
