UDP to convene meeting of JHADC MDCs on Sept 4
SHILLONG: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has decided to convene a meeting of the MDCs of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) in Shillong on September 4.
The decision was taken at an emergent meeting of the party held here on Monday. This came following reports alleging that four MDCs of the party are joining the BJP.
“The meeting will be held at the official residence of cabinet minister Kyrmen Shylla at Bivar Road to discuss on the matter,” UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh said in a statement.
Earlier, UDP leader and cabinet minister Lahkmen Rymbui said that the party would appeal to the four MDCs to reconsider their decision to join other parties.
He also confirmed that the four MDCs are yet to officially tender their resignations to the party.
The UDP is presently having 10 MDCs in the 30-member JHADC.
