Umiam Bridge load limit restricted to prevent further damage

East Khasi Hills District Magistrate Rosetta Mary Kurbah has prohibited the plying of heavy vehicles exceeding the load of 15 MT (Fifteen Metric Ton) from Shillong towards Umiam Bridge.

The prohibitory order was issued under section 144 in pursuance of Government Order  no. POWER.63/2021/78 dated Shillong the 1st November, 2023 for restricting the loading capacity of heavy vehicle to avoid further damage of the Umiam Bridge, which connects East Khasi Hills District and Ri Bhoi District.

The District Magistrate directed the heavy vehicles exceeding the load of 15 MT (fifteen Metric Ton) to proceed towards Shillong Bye Pass through Mawryngkneng.
