Umpling Bridge to be inaugurated on 31st March

The traffic jams along Rynjah-Lapalang-Umpling Circuit Road will be a thing of the past from Thursday this week as the much delayed newly constructed bridge connecting RR Colony and Umpling will be inaugurated on Thursday.

Notably the delayed in the construction of the double lane bridge connecting RR Colony & Umpling led to huge traffic jams in and around Rynjah area. As the vehicles originating from Umpling area have to proceed towards Lapalang and vice versa thereby leading to bottle necks in Lapalang junction with vehicles coming from Rynjah/Lapalang or Umpling/Nongrah during the peak hours and at a time the spillover of traffic jams would be till Lad Nongrah or Rynjah.

The PWD officials and contractor defended the tardy construction of the bridge due to the COVID-19’s pandemic.

The capacity of the bridge is 70 metric tons and the total project is Rs 4.35 crore.
