Unidentified body identify and suspect responsible for her murder arrested

The body of unidentified female person recovered at Um-Im in Umtyra village under East Jaintia Hills was identified and a person suspected of her unnatural death was also arrested.

Police said that the body was identified as Grecia Bareh from Dkhiah East Village, East Jaintia Hills on Thursday and her body has been handed over to the family members.

Police informed the deceased was with one person identified as Hedstar Dohtdong (42 yrs) of Pyrda village, West Khasi Hills District on the night/day before the recovery of the dead body.

With the assistance of police personnel from Byrnihat PS and Assam Police, the district police apprehended him within 24 hours on basis of strong evidence.

Police that they have received an FIR filed by the brother of the deceased named as Pura Bareh of Dkhiah East village, East Jaintia Hills District.

Police said that they have registered a case vide Khliehriat PS Case No. 26 (7) 2022 u/s 302 IPC has been registered and further investigation is on.

Police are awaiting for the Post Mortem Report and further sections will be added after the report.
