Union Minister reviews central schemes in Baksa, calls for agricultural growth and rural economic empowerment

Union Minister of State (Independent) for Law & Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, visited Baksa district on Saturday to assess the implementation and progress of various central government schemes. He emphasized the district’s vast potential for agricultural and economic development, advocating targeted measures to strengthen rural livelihoods.
Accompanied by District Commissioner Gautam Das and senior officials, Meghwal chaired a review meeting at the District Commissioner’s conference hall in Mushalpur. He stressed the need to enhance agricultural productivity, urging the establishment of cold storage facilities to preserve and add value to the district’s farm produce.
Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Antyodaya—uplifting the poorest of the poor—Meghwal called for improved inter-district coordination and stronger support for rural entrepreneurship. He emphasized that developing cooperative networks and streamlining supply chains would enable farmers and rural enterprises to access better markets.
The Minister also highlighted Baksa’s potential for honey production and urged authorities to expand market access to boost profitability for local beekeepers. He called for capacity-building programs and technical support to establish honey production as a sustainable economic activity.
Additionally, Meghwal reviewed the performance of key departments, including handloom and textiles, underscoring their role in generating local employment and driving economic empowerment.
The review meeting was attended by MCLA Ghanshyam Das, Additional District Commissioners (ADCs) Jeetu Kr Barman, Mustafa Salim Ahmed, and Nilutpal Pathak, along with Block Development Officers (BDOs), Heads of Departments, and other senior government officials.
