Teihun Makri, a dedicated volunteer of the NSS Cell at the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM), has brought immense pride to her institution by qualifying for the final round of the Vikshit Bharat National Championship 2025.
The prestigious event, set to take place on January 11 and 12 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, will see Makri presenting her innovative ideas on “Enhancing Productivity through Agriculture” directly to the Prime Minister of India, representing Meghalaya.
Makri, a postgraduate student in the Department of Botany, emerged successful after a competitive multi-stage selection process. Her focus area was supported by her mentors, Dr. Moutushi Dey and Dr. Amilia Nongbet, who provided valuable guidance in data collection and analysis. The NSS Cell at USTM played a pivotal role in her journey, ensuring seamless documentation and coordination with national authorities.
Nibedita Paul, NSS Program Coordinator, expressed deep gratitude to UTM’s leadership, including Hon’ble Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, Vice Chancellor Prof. G.D. Sharma, and regional NSS officials, for their constant encouragement. “We are immensely proud of Ms. Makri’s achievement and confident that she will make a lasting impact at this national platform,” said Dr. Paul.
The Vikshit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025, a reimagined version of the National Youth Festival of India, is an innovative youth engagement initiative inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision to involve 100,000 young leaders in civic life and leadership roles.
