USTM wins ‘University of the Year 2024’ at prestigious Academic Insights Education Excellence Awards

The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has been crowned ‘University of the Year 2024’ at the Academic Insights Education Excellence Awards & Summit 2024, held in Bengaluru on Saturday. The prestigious recognition was received by Prof. GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM and former President of the Association of Indian Universities, in the presence of over 200 distinguished academicians, including Vice Chancellors, Deans, Principals, Directors, and leading education experts.

Recognized for its innovative approach to education, cutting-edge research, and impactful social initiatives, USTM emerged as the top institution among a highly competitive group of universities across India. The award ceremony, hosted at the Courtyard by Marriott, Hebbal, Bengaluru, celebrated USTM’s exceptional contributions to higher education and nation-building.

USTM has been making remarkable strides in academic and research excellence. The university holds the 52nd position in India as per the Nature Index, a globally respected database that evaluates institutions based on the quality of their scientific research and collaboration. Additionally, USTM has received an ‘A’ grade accreditation from NAAC and recognition from NIRF, further solidifying its reputation as a leading centre of higher learning in Northeast India.

Receiving the award, Prof. GD Sharma expressed his gratitude, stating, “This honour reflects the relentless dedication of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni, who have collectively shaped USTM’s success story.
