Uttar Pradesh minister leads roadshow for Prayagraj Mahakumbh-2025 in Guwahati
Uttar Pradesh Minister of Agriculture, Agricultural Education, and Research, Surya Pratap Shahi, led a grand roadshow in Dispur to promote the Prayagraj Mahakumbh-2025. The event invited people from Assam and the Northeast to participate in this spiritual and cultural extravaganza.
Shahi described the Mahakumbh as a testament to India’s cultural diversity and spiritual consciousness. He emphasized its embodiment of the vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat, Samaveshi Bharat” (One India, Great India, Inclusive India).
He also assured that the 2025 Mahakumbh would surpass its 2019 predecessor in scale, management, and divine significance, with over 450 million pilgrims, saints, and tourists expected.
The event will take place from January 13 to February 26, 2025, at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj.
Listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Mahakumbh showcases India’s global cultural heritage.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is committed to making the Prayagraj Mahakumbh-2025 a divine, eco-friendly, and technologically advanced event. Minister Shahi concluded by emphasizing that this celebration of spirituality and culture will further reinforce India’s global identity as a land of unity in diversity.
He informed that 35 existing permanent ghats and 9 new ghats have been constructed in the Mahakumbh city to facilitate bathing for devotees. Aerial flower showers will be carried out across all 44 ghats spread over a 12-kilometre area. He further mentioned that a riverfront, modelled after Mumbai’s Marine Drive, has been developed along a 15.25-kilometer stretch on the banks of the Ganges, extending from the Sangam to Nagvasuki Temple, Surdas to Chhatnag, and near Curzon Bridge to Mahavir Puri. Additionally, the Integrated Control Command Center has been upgraded to enhance crowd management. Four viewing centers, equipped with 52-seater setups, have been established for real-time CCTV monitoring.
The minister stated that approximately 450 million devotees are expected to attend Prayagraj Mahakumbh-2025, marking a significant milestone. Three technical methods will be used to count every individual.
The first method is attribute-based search, where tracking will be conducted using person attribute search cameras. The second method involves RFID wristbands, which will be provided to pilgrims. Through these wristbands, entry and exit times will be tracked using RFID readers. The third method is mobile app tracking, where, with the consent of the pilgrims, their location will be tracked through GPS using a mobile application.
The Prayagraj Mahakumbh-2025 stands as a historic event, blending spiritual grandeur with modern technology to ensure a seamless and transformative experience for devotees. These initiatives highlight Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to creating a sustainable, inclusive, and memorable Mahakumbh for millions worldwide.
