Uzbekistan’s Ambassador says Meghalaya plays a role in strengthening India-Uzbekistan’s ties
Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to India, Sardor Mirzyayusupovich Rustambaev, observed that the unique strengths found in Meghalaya can play a crucial role in enhancing bilateral relations.
During his speech on the 53rd Meghalaya Day on Tuesday, he said, “Uzbekistan is committed to strengthening our ties with India, including fostering cultural exchanges, tourism, promoting trade and investment, and collaborating in areas of mutual interest. We believe that Meghalaya, with its unique strengths, can play a crucial role in enhancing our bilateral relations.”
He invited the people of the state to visit Uzbekistan, adding that the country would be honoured to showcase its rich cultural heritage, vibrant cities, and warm hospitality. The aim is to promote bilateral ties, strengthen connections between the two regions, and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of each other’s cultures.
Having visited all three regions of the state—Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills, and Garo Hills—on his second visit to Meghalaya, he remarked, “I already feel at home here.” He added, “Just as Meghalaya is a melting pot of diverse cultures, Uzbekistan is also home to various ethnicities and languages. We cherish our cultural heritage while embracing modernity and progress.”
The Ambassador emphasized that Uzbekistan is committed to building bridges of friendship. “We believe in the power of dialogue and cooperation. We are committed to building bridges of friendship and understanding with people across the globe, and I am hopeful that the spirit of cooperation and shared values that bind our two nations will continue to flourish. Uzbekistan deeply values its friendship with India and admires the remarkable progress that India as a whole and Meghalaya in particular have achieved, especially in the last 53 years.”
