Vehicular traffic to be halted for one hour prior movement of President of India
In view of the visit of President of India Droupadi Murmu to Tura West Garo Hills District on Monday, the Meghalaya Police has chalked out elaborate traffic arrangements to ensure the smooth movement of the VVIP in the district.
The Meghalaya Police has informed that there will be certain inconveniences due to staggering of vehicles in various places of Tura town and on the route taken by the VVIP.
The Police appealed to the general public to avoid travelling towards Tura town and adjoining areas unless necessary.
Police informed that vehicular traffic will be halted for 1 (one) hour prior to the arrival of the WIP on Monday’s afternoon at all the junctions.
Police said that no entry of HMV and trucks etc., towards Tura for 24 hours prior to arrival of VVIP till the departure.
Persons/individual intending to commute towards Guwahati and Shillong on Monday and Tuesday from South West Garo Hills District, Mankachar, Assam are advised to avoid taking Tura route and instead travel via AMPT route.
Persons/individual intending to commute towards Guwahati and Shillong on Monday and Tuesday from Baghmara, South Garo Hills District are requested to travel via Siju, Rongjeng route.
Police appealed against road site parking of vehicles on the route to be taken by the VVIP w.e.f., Monday’s Morning to Tuesday’s afternoon.
However, Emergency Service vehicles will be allowed to ply and facilitated.
