Vijayashankar appointed as Governor of Meghalaya; Lakshman Acharya as Assam Governor gets charge of Manipur
President Droupadi Murmu appointed Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar, 67, as the Governor of Meghalaya.
Vijayashankar is a former MP and MLA from Karnataka. He will be replacing the current Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan.
The President also appointed Gulab Chand Kataria, the current Governor of Assam, as the Governor of Punjab. He has also been appointed as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
In his place, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as the Governor of Assam and given additional charge as the Governor of Manipur.
Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan. Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana. Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as the Governor of Sikkim. Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand. Ramen Deka has been appointed as the Governor of Chhattisgarh. CP Radhakrishnan, the current Governor of Jharkhand with additional charge of Telangana, has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra. K Kailashnathan as Lt. Governor of Puducherry with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
